Walter Field Memorial Drinking Fountain
This memorial fountain can be found in the area of Sandy Heath
Walter Field was a landscape painter born in England on January 1st, 1837.
Taught by John Rogers Herbert and John Pye, he exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours between 1856-
He became an associate Of the Royal Academy in 1880.
He died in Hampstead, London, on December 23rd, 1901.
It is understood that the location of the fountain relates to the home of the Field family -
Before its demolition the Pryors housed Walter Field , whose relative Horace Field, the architect, lived at Chestnut Lodge (the western part of Squire's Mount)
